For at teste en ukrypteret SMTP-forbindelse med AUTH gøres følgene:
telnet til smtp-serveren på port 25 (eller hvilken port den nu lytter på): $ telnet servernavn 25
sig goddag: EHLO <dit afsenderdomæne>
Fortæl at du vil bruge authentication: AUTH LOGIN
Serveren svarer med en base 64-krypteret besked, du skal nu agive brugernavn krypteret i base 64 - brug f. eks. RPTea base 64...

DNS f-up
Under flytning af min side til en ny host lavede jeg en fejl i DNS. Jeg kom til at sætte en A-record ‘wasd.dk’ i stedet for ‘www.’.
Round-robin DNS peger således nogle til den forkerte server de næste 12 timer-ish. Øv bøv!
